The VSCC Prescott weekend was glorious. The sun shone; the cars shone too. Did the commentator say that 20,000 people came? Yet it didn’t seem as crowded as in previous years.
The private room at the Shutters Inn reverberated to loud and friendly chat on the Saturday evening during the excellent meal organised so ably by Christine Talbot-Cooper. Alistair Robinson was presented with the Fox and Nicholls Trophy for restoring his car and in recognition of his part in organising the wonderful TOC Antipodean Tour.
On the most popular day, Sunday, Bill, the Chief Car Park Marshall was fantastic; for the first time Talbots were directed to our now traditional parking area in the Orchard without having to flagrantly disobey instructions! About twenty Talbots converged on the Talbot marquee and, with a further nine Talbots competing, that was a great turnout.
In the competition, Marina Pemberton beat her dad, Norman, in their 95/105 and it was great to see, for the first time, three Edwardian Talbots taking part. David Jones’ newly-built 25hp, driven by John Polson, looked splendid.
Ruth Dunkley and a willing team of hard-working volunteers prepared and served our strawberries and fizz, and thanks are due to everyone who assisted in making this a truly excellent weekend.
