Two Wartime Icons: The Talbot Ambulance and a Spitfire at Duxford 14th Sep 2025

Craig Henty, Head of Historic Collections, London Ambulance Service NHS Trust, writes: as promised, we managed to get the Talbot on show at Duxford for their history weekend alongside the iconic Mk1 Spitfire N3200.

We are grateful to the Talbot Owners’ Club, but the Talbot misbehaved and pinged a wire off the starter at terminal 7 which led to a no crank. Still, this wasn't until loading on the last day. We'll be able to sort this in the coming weeks.

Everyone loved her and many commented on the Owners’ Club badge upfront. We have now raised a total of £2800 that will be ring fenced solely for the upkeep and care of the Talbot.

This ambulance served in London during the Blitz and is an extraordinary survivor, complete with all its wartime interior fittings and is proudly cared for by the London Ambulance service NHS Trust. Formerly only a static display vehicle, the Talbot Owners' Club has recently worked on the ambulance to get it mobile for the first time in many years.

London Ambulance Service has run a story about her on their website:
