THE TOC FOUNDERS’ LUNCH AT BARLBY ROAD 10th Apr 2026

Our third iteration of the TOC’s Founders’ Lunch attracted 32 enthusiastic Members and was voted the best yet. 

Howard Day led the negotiations with Ladbroke Hall and succeeded in getting an agreement that we could use the Studio. This allowed for a splendid exhibition of four cars with a long dining table laid out alongside. It made for a very impressive display as our visitors arrived and looked down from the mezzanine ready to enjoy a complimentary glass of prosecco. Glyn Lloyd had done a fantastic job with the show material, ensuring an impactful and professional display. I think that everyone present felt a real connection to the building and its history.

The team at Ladbroke Hall really excelled themselves this year with a truly excellent meal and very friendly and efficient staff.

This year, of course, was eventful being the 100th Anniversary of Georges Roesch’s 14hp design and the cars on show highlighted that important Talbot milestone. Cars owned by Gordon Matthews, Neil Lucas and David Thomson graced the inside, alongside the diners, whilst outside Howard Day’s 90 and ‘Lavinia’, the 14/45 belonging to Harry Sear, was parked by the portico.

Immediately after the meal, Harry and driver, Paul Harold, set off to resounding cheers on the first leg of their round Britain tour to raise money for the charity Reclaim Life.

Thanks to Howard Day, Neil Lucas, Glyn Lloyd and the owners of the cars on display who had set off for London that morning in the rain: it was well worth it!
