Talbot Owners' Club

The Home of Pre-War London Talbots

Amongst Friends at VSCC Prescott 2nd Aug 2026

It was another glorious weekend of motor sport and sociability in what has become a remarkably long, hot summer. Prescott felt wonderfully reminiscent of the “good old days”: strong attendance, a cheerful atmosphere, and that unmistakable buzz around the hill.

The TOC enclosure was particularly lively, with ten cars on Saturday and twenty on Sunday, and around eighty people drawn in - perhaps encouraged, dare I say, by the strawberries and champagne at lunchtime. It made for a delightful social occasion, and sincere thanks go to the preparation team whose efforts were much appreciated.

Changes to the Orchard car park layout meant our pitch was moved slightly towards the entrance, a shift that proved advantageous. We were more visible than ever, and the marquee and flags clearly announced the TOC presence. I remain surprised that no other clubs go to similar lengths to present themselves and their cars. A line of shiny cars is attractive, of course, but without context it lacks impact. Displaying information about the cars and the Club makes a real difference, and I would encourage every Member showing a Talbot at any kind of event to provide relevant details. Visitors genuinely enjoy reading about the cars, and it sparks conversation.

Two Club trophies were presented over the weekend. The first, the Talbot Owners’ Club trophy, went to James Mumford for his organisation of the ever‑popular Spanish Tour, supported enthusiastically by Talbot and Sunbeam owners - a few other marques besides. The second, the Rawlings Trophy, was awarded to Paul Dennis, who regularly uses his charming 14/45, a car he inherited from his father.

As for the competition itself - see Talbots in Competition - it was a pleasure to witness the Polson family’s newly completed Fox & Nicholl Talbot 105 single‑seater replica making its debut. The car looked superb and ran well, though the tight Prescott course is not perhaps its natural habitat. Its next outing will be at Mallory, where it should have the chance to stretch its legs properly.
