With our marquee set-up, we had a base for resting from the very hot
sun for all members and Talboteers, and were able to host an informal
drinks reception on Sunday lunchtime for some forty enthusiasts. This
was enjoyed by all and certainly surprised a few of them. The supper
party at the Beckford Inn on Saturday went very well, with lots of pre-dinner
tyre kicking, and well deserved thanks to John & Christine Talbot-Cooper
and John & Lu for organising the weekend. Very much the style of
event we want to encourage. For those who have never been, Prescott's tough and demanding 1,127 yard course is suitable challenge for even the top drivers, which is sometimes mastered but never beaten. Set in a niche in the Cotswold hills, Prescott has superb viewing for all spectators, so you can get close enough to watch the drivers in action. Spectators can get a really good view of the start and see the action from many excellent viewpoints on the hill. Extensive facilities make Prescott one of the finest Speed Hillclimb venues in the country. Congratulations to Cecil Schumacher and Di Threlfall who both won 1st handicap in their respective classes. Norman Pemberton in class 5 was a reserve and unfortunately didn't get a call-up on Sunday. The final timed runs for the Talbots competing were :- Class 5: Cecil - 1st Run 55.48 2nd Run 55.59 1st on Handicap Class 6: Di Threlfall - 1st Run 55.43 2nd Run 55.42 1st on Handicap
