Pre-War Prescott/TOC Swapmeet - 22nd July 2017

We have been invited to join in the festivities on 22nd July, organised for a number of years now by the Vintage Minor Register. This is a relaxed ‘garden Party’ for all pre-war cars, and a few words by the legendary Ian Grace (organiser) say more than can I:

The key to the huge success of Pre-War Prescott is twofold.  First, it enables one-make clubs who may not have the financial resources to book Prescott to hold a rally there as a 'gathering within a gathering'.  The format is extremely informal, allowing clubs to gather in the Paddock, including not only parking together but having their own club tent, autojumble stalls, award their own prizes, and anything within reason (!) – all at no charge to the club whatsoever.  All I need is rough numbers (which I will know from the entries coming in) and any tent space requirements and I then allocate space accordingly.  This means that your members can have 'all the fun of the fair' including untimed climbs of the hill, all of the catering, access to all the trade stands, displays, etc., etc., and all with no organizational overhead to the club.  All that is needed is for your members to enter, and we do the rest.

The second key to our success is the now-legendary informal, garden party, minimum of red tape atmosphere of the day.  No nonsense, no marque snobbery, just equal reverence for ANY car that survived the War.

The Clubhouse will be open for food and licensed bar all day and there is also a tea/coffee/burger/bacon butty, etc. kiosk in the Paddock.  Spectators or owners of post-war cars are parked in the Orchard, but have open pedestrian access to the Paddock, the hill path, Ettore's, etc.

Entry cost is per the attached entry form.  This form can be used, of entries can be made online at www.prewarprescott.com.  Regarding access to the track, every entrant receives one free climb and can then pre-order up to three more.  All they have to do then is attend one of the safety briefings that are held from about 9 a.m. and then they can turn up at the hill at any time during the day and take their climbs. All as relaxed and as informal as we can make it.

There is a Tour on the Sunday with a lunch stop, and the whole weekend will wind up with a delightful cream tea in the Cotswolds. Full details are on the Entry Form which you can find here:  http://prewarprescott.com/?page_id=161

But the TOC involvement will also feature the opportunity to bring along a box or two of your surplus bits and pieces (preferably Talbot-related) so you can buy/sell/swap with fellow members during the day. A TOC Swap-Meet!! Do have a sort-out and clear some shelves, and then just re-stock them with new items!!

This is an informal event, and all you need to do is sort a B&B, send in your entry (mention TOC) and then let me know. There is a BBQ on site on Saturday evening, or we could look at meeting at a local pub for supper, but more details as we get nearer the date.

Let’s have a great turn-out and break new ground!
