Scenic tour of the area

with a few 'watering holes' (licensed or otherwise), concluding with
VSCC WISCOMBE on Sunday.

RELIGION & ARCHITECTURE (Saturday Run): The Abbot's House at the Benedictine Monastery of Muchelney. Abbey. (Coffee stop).

ECOLOGY, HISTORY & LEGEND (Saturday Run): The unique wetlands of the slightly mysterious Somerset Levels; totally flat with the occasional conical hill with ruined church; the land of King Alfred and the Cakes, of Sedgemoor, the last battle fought on English soil in 1687, and the fringes of Camelot.

AREA of OUTSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY & LITERATURE (Saturday Run): The Quantock Hills, the first AONB to be designated in England;with its large population of red deer, and Nether Stowey, one time home to both Coleridge and Wordsworth.

HORTICULTURE (Saturday Run): Barrington Hall with its elegant formal gardens inspired by Gertrude Jekyll. (Visit to gardens, afternoon tea, or tyre kicking - according to taste).

MOTOR SPORT (Sunday): The wonderfully atmospheric and enjoyable VSCC Wiscombe Hill Climb, in East Devon, but not far from Somerset.

The Tour over the three days is designed to allow good driving in this beautiful historic countryside, but also to stop and chat and kick tyres with other Talboteers. Most of the Saturday tour will be on quiet minor roads passing through delightful villages, but there will be plenty of time on Friday/Sunday for the 105/110's to open up.

Accommodation has been provisionally arranged at the very comfortable Hotel for Friday and Saturday evenings, where there is a secluded car park out of sight from the road. All rooms are en-suite, overlooking our cars. Our group dinner on Saturday will be in a private dining room, where we will be served a 4-course meal, and of course, both members and guests are very welcome whether staying in the hotel or not.

Some people may have driven hundreds of miles on the Friday (perhaps after work), so the evening meal will be in the dining room on an à la carte basis.

Entry is not limited to members, as at all our events, so please mention it to your friends who could be interested. The main point is that they come in a Talbot!

On Sunday there is a splendid run to Wiscombe (under an hour), and after a good breakfast, there is no better prospect than a day at this terrific and very atmospheric VSCC hill-climb. Our base will be our new marquee, as last year located in the 'top' car-park - look also for the flag. Parking gets very full so if you are joining us for the day, do try and get there early to 'bag' a spot in our reserved area. Competition ends at about 5.00pm, but you are free to come and go as you wish, of course.

Judging by the enthusiasm for this event in the past and our growing membership, we expect a big entry. If Friday travel is difficult, just join us at the hotel later.
