Bring your Talbot for a diagnostic day out .....

As a result of the Car Club Expo's successful launch in 2005 by the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon, the Talbot Owners' Club sets the standard as one of the featured clubs using the centre's facilities as featured in February's edition of Classic and Sports car magazine.

This was another first for the Club and for the Heritage Motor Centre but provided an excellent facility for members to bring along their cars and share valuable knowledge between experts and others.

Below is the report from the event!

The workshops were ready and waiting for us, and we met our helpful liaison man from the Museum and by 10.00am the examinations began.

A 14/45 and a 75, were taken by our experts for a test/assessment drive, and brought into the workshop where, using the 4 post ramp and static jacks/axle stands, they were thoroughly inspected. Routine adjustments were carried out, showing owners 'how to' and 'what to look for', etc., and the first session passed in no time at all. Well, about 2 hours really. Change of cars and away again, with no rest for our intrepid experts, eagerly followed by a group of 'watchers' awaiting their turn.

There was much keen interest from the members as the examinations proceeded, and Vincent and Stuart took care to explain and illustrate details and problems simply and clearly (and believe me I need things simple and clear).

The afternoon wound down a little before 5.00pm and we retired to the Antelope Inn nearby for a small libation before setting off home. This was a first for the Club, with hearty thanks to Vincent Rawlings and Stuart Lloyd for their cheerful and unhesitating commitment, and to John Bishop at Gaydon Heritage Centre for his enthusiastic and practical support. Next time……………..I am sure there will be another.... (watch this space).
