Friday visit to the village of Lacock

VSCC Wiscombe on Sunday.

This year, the Friday lunchtime meeting point will be in the unspoilt National Trust village of Lacock in Wiltshire, where we meet for lunch. Lacock has much to offer with the Abbey (left), and Fox Talbot Museum in a unique, unspoilt community which has featured in much period filming. Culture, a little light exercise and glorious architecture – what a great start to the weekend.

The driving for the weekend will once again not involve too much footling about in narrow green lanes (for which Talbots are not best suited); it will be mostly on 'A' or 'B' roads, requiring much simpler directions.

On the principle that most teams will have driven quite a long way on the Friday, we have some time to explore Bradford on Avon on Saturday morning, followed by a scenic cruise on the Kennet and Avon canal. A lunch of minimalist or gargantuan proportions as you wish, at the pretty Lock Inn Café (below) , a mere couple of minutes walk from the wharf, is the prelude for a splendid cross-country run to the evening hotel.

Tyre-kicking and testing cars is something of a tradition on the Saturday evening before our friendly dinner, all a prelude to a super day at VSCC Wiscombe on the Sunday.
If you find you can come contact David Booth to send you the full package of information.
A real west-country start to the season – what could be better?

As with all our events, entry is not limited to members, so do mention it to any friends who know the difference between a Talbot and a Sunbeam Talbot (or even a Talbot Sunbeam).

On Sunday there is a splendid run to Wiscombe (under an hour), and after a good breakfast, there is no better prospect than a day at this terrific and very atmospheric VSCC hill-climb. Our base will be our new marquee, as last year located in the 'top' car-park - look also for the flag. Parking gets very full so if you are joining us for the day, do try and get there early to 'bag' a spot in our reserved area. Competition ends at about 5.00pm, but you are free to come and go as you wish, of course.

Judging by the enthusiasm for this event in the past and our growing membership, we expect a big entry. If Friday travel is difficult, just join us at the hotel later.
