The Great Hall at Ingestre during the 2008 AGM was the historic setting for the unveiling of a new Trophy, so generously presented to the Club by the Anthony Blight Trust, in the form of the actual 1934 Alpine Cup won by the Talbot team.

The award will focus on "Outstanding competition performance in a Talbot" to encompass all aspects of competition including race, hill climb, sprint, rally and trial.

The criteria for the award will provide focus for all Talboteers, importantly reflecting Anthony's enthusiasm and passion for the Roesch Talbot.

The Trophy will be awarded using a clearly defined system of points as follows:-

  • Entry to event (race, speed event, hillclimb etc.) ~ 1 point
  • Driving the car to the event ~ 1 point
  • Endurance event (worldwide) ~ 5 points
  • Endurance event (European) ~ 2 points
  • Class win ~ 1 point
  • Handicap win ~ 1 point
  • Event win  ~ 2 points
  • Committee (up to a max of) ~ 5 points**

Entrants will make submissions based on competitive events entered during the calendar year.  An electronic form will be available on the website during January/February for entrants to complete, the TOC coordinator will collate the information, and the winner will be announced and presented at the TOC AGM Weekend.  The winner of the Trophy will not be eligible for the following two years.

**The Committee merit points may be awarded for a number of things:-

- Personal maintenance/repair
- Sporting attitude of the driver

- Repeated endeavour in the face of an uncompetitive car
- A novice bonus etc, etc

all very much reflecting Anthony Blight's enthusiasm, with a limit of 2 points per driver.

This generous donation has provided the Club with an important award for all Talboteers who compete with their cars. It also recognises Anthony Blight himself, who collected, rebuilt and raced the famous team cars and, in addition, found time to tell the remarkable story of Georges Roesch and the Invincible Talbot.
